THE 62nd South Pacific Bowling Carnival is expected to be bigger and better by the organisers of the tournament which will be held at the Suva Bowling Club next month. Bowls Fiji secretary Abdul Kalim said he was expecting a successful competition.

“We have got everything organised for the carnival and everything is in place for the competition,” he said.

“We are expecting a good crowd from Australia and New Zealand to compete in this year’s competition. “It is one of the oldest competition and it is the oldest bowling carnival in the region. It is a prestigious competition where a lot of bowlers have competed from different countries.”

Kalim said the competition would give a good test to the local bowlers.

“There would be majority of the bowlers from Fiji who would be competing with the top bowlers from the other countries as well. We would be having 90 per cent of local bowlers as cash prizes are on offer for the winners,” Kalim said.

“We are grateful to the Geotech Drilling Services Ltd who would be sponsoring the event with the sponsorship amount of more than $20,000 for the competition.” The entries closed last weekend.
