THE Australian Rugby League Commission is looking for strategic ways in developing our local players through the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL).

Chairperson Peter Beattie said the first step was getting Fiji to compete in the New South Wales Cup where they could be exposed to international competition.

“Our second step is to work on a national program,” Mr Beattie said.

“We got football legends like Petero Civoniceva who can help develop Fijian players.

“We need very supportive private companies to come on board and support the local players.”

Beattie along with National Rugby League senior manager International strategy and NRL awards Frank Puletua left the country this afternoon after a successful meeting with FNRL chairperson Peni Musunamasi.
