Aussie DFAT level of warning ‘remains unchanged’

Update: 5:26PM THE Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) says the recent reissuing of advice for Fiji on August 12 is the result of a periodic review and is not an upgrade on the level of warning given to Australian travellers.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) had issued
the renewed travel advisory warning Australians to exercise a high degree of
caution when travelling to Suva because of the prevalence of crime and
potential for civil unrest.

“Contrary
to incorrect media reporting which has since been corrected, DFAT has not upgraded the level of warning for
Fiji and Suva and it remains unchanged,” the Australian Government
said.
