My grandson has made all of us proud.

Saraswati Swamy said this as she heaped praises on Justin Narayan after he scooped MasterChef Australia season 13.

The 72-year-old Malolo, Nadi resident said the achievement was no mere feat.

“I am over the moon and with this achievement, I am sure he has made every Fijian proud,” she said.

She said as a child, Justine had a keen interest in cooking and this fascination made him work hard and strive to excel in this field.

“Even during his younger days, he was always inquisitive about what food his mother would cook.

“In a way, he has also promoted our Fijian food on the international stage, which we all should be proud of.”

Narayan walked away with $A250,000 ($F385,161) in prize money after winning the competition.
