AFTER 107 years of existence and exposing the world’s talented athletes, the International Association of Athletics Federation has changed its name to World Athletics.

The IAAF was founded in 1912 as an international sports governing body and throughout the years, changes have taken place lifting the standard of athletics to another level.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will now be officially called World Athletics.

The sport’s international governing body not only changed its name and logo on all social media platforms but also the URL of its official website.

The name change had been suggested in a move to make the sport more accessible.

“Welcome to the new World Athletics website, the place to come for all things about our wonderful sport. We’ll be bringing you new features about athletes and the sport, as well as making it easier to find the things we know you love,” the sport’s international governing body’s website stated.

The website also stated that information about events and news about athletes, rules of the sport, historical statistics and features that will inspire people to be active is made ready and accessible to anyone and everyone.

World Athletics is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race-walking, mountain running and ultra-running.
