* Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage 2001;

* International Convention in the Control of Antifouling Systems on Ships;

* Protocol on Preparedness, Response, and Co-operation to Pollution Incidents by Hazardous Noxious Substances;

* Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic;

* International Convention for Prevention of Pollution from Ships;

Fiji and the international Maritime organisation

* Primary purpose to develop comprehensive and regulatory framework for shipping including the prevention of pollution from ships and offshore structures that are harmful to people’s lives as well as their natural environment and ecosystems;

* Fiji gained membership in 1983 and has ratified 18 of 63 IMO conventions (28 per cent)
