Assessors in the rape trial of a Sigatoka man have returned with a not guilty verdict earlier today in the High Court in Lautoka.

All the assessors found the accused not guilty of rape and attempted rape while two assessors found him not guilty of sexual assault and indecent assault.

However, the third assessor found him guilty of sexual assault and indecent assault.

The prosecution only called the complainant who gave evidence in court and stated she intended to marry the accused if he agreed.

The accused is represented by seasoned Lautoka lawyer Iqbal Khan.

Justice Sunil Sharma will deliver his judgement on the case tomorrow.
