THE Army cricket team kept the silverware in Delainabua another year after ousting their traditional rivals the Fiji Police Force during their 2019 Sukuna Bowl cricket match at Albert Park in Suva yesterday.

Underneath the scorching sun, Army won by seven wickets.

Police batted first scoring 160 runs in 35 overs with all wickets out.

Army replied with 161 runs in 28 overs and seven wickets remaining to take home the win.

Fiji cricket team player and Army skipper Kitione Tavo commended the hard fought contest saying the relationship between the two forces in the sport has never diminished.

“We are thankful for our comrades in the Fiji Police Force that we come together for this sport every year,” Tavo said.

“Cricket is a small sport and doesn’t pull the crowds, but it’s great to see a large following for a minor sport.

“We thank our families and colleagues in both our forces, for coming out in numbers to support us.

“We look forward to playing Police again next year, but at the moment we return the cup to Delainabua where it rightfully belongs.”
