THE head of the Catholic Church in Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, yesterday reminded followers of the faith about the importance of family.

Speaking at the synod thanksgiving mass at the Sacred Heart College grounds, the Archbishop stressed that the family was the basic cell of society.

He said it was important for the church to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit in order to hear God.

Archbishop Loy Chong also encouraged those present to be ambassadors of the Word of God because the church was established to be a mission church.
