A NADI man is expected to pay more than $5000 to the Fiji National Provident Fund following an unsuccessful appeal last week.
Santok Singh was charged with four counts of failing to pay contribution to the FNPF.
The Nadi Magistrates Court had ruled that he pay $500 within a month from March 2017.
The court had also ruled that he pay $5307 for surcharges and outstanding contributions to his employees.
Singh was convicted on March 27.
The contributions he failed to pay spanned from December 2007 to 2011.
He filed an appeal on the grounds that the court did not take into account his ability to pay the stipulated amounts.
The court heard Singh had not made any payments required since being convicted in March.
Justice Aruna Aluthge said the fact that he was allowed time on more than one occasion to clear the outstanding contributions was a sign that the court was mindful of his ability to pay his dues.
He said it was for this reason his appeal was dismissed.
