TABADAMU hardman Apenisa Cakaubalavu is keen to grace the Hong Kong Stadium turf where the next leg of the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Series will be played next weekend.
Cakaubalavu grew up watching the tournament which has showcased many great players such as Waisale Serevi.
The 21-year-old is part of the extended Fiji Airways Fiji 7s squad for the Hong Kong 7s and Commonwealth Games.
Cakaubalavu, who plays in the prop or hooker’s position, will face an uphill battle against Isake Katonibau, Paula Dranisikula, Josua Vakurinabili and Kalioni Nasoko in the final selection.
“I feel happy and excited to be part of the team,” the Lau native said.
“I thank the coach and the selectors for that.
“I’m looking forward to the event.
“I grew up watching Fiji play at the Hong Kong and I’m prepared for the grand tournament.
“I love to play with my mentors like Aisake and Jerry Tuwai. It will be tough competition,” he said.
