THE Assemblies of God (AOG) church has also called on Government to consider faith as a merit when considering appointments for heads of schools.

The church’s general superintendent, the Rev Mosese Cakau said he personally made a similar request to the Ministry of Education two years ago regarding a decision that was made by the ministry to replace a principal at Assemblies of God High School in Kinoya, Nasinu.

“The Government and the school committees in Fiji have enjoyed a unique partnership, one that has been carefully nurtured over decades of mutual respect and appreciation,” Mr Cakau said.

“We pray that this relationship remains so.”

Mr Cakau said AOG Fiji concurred with other Christian churches and faith-based organisations in requesting the ministry to reconsider its unilateral decision.

“The AOG Fiji is one with the Christian churches and other faith-based organisations in requesting the Ministry of Education to reconsider its unilateral decision in relation to the leadership positions in our schools.

“We can only pray for divine intervention that good sense and goodwill prevail for the advancement of education in our beloved nation,” he added.
