ANZ Samoa launches Pinktober campaign

Update: 7:02PM THE Samoa Cancer Society and ANZ Samoa launched Pinktober in style this week, unveiling the bank’s hot pink MENA fashion ATMs downtown Apia.

This launch kicks off a month-long breast cancer awareness and fundraising activities.

“I am very proud that ANZ is once again involved in Pinktober, a cause we’ve been supporting for five years in Samoa to spread the word and creating greater awareness about breast cancer,” ANZ Samoa Country Head Bernie Poort said.

“We have donated $20,000 this year to help the Samoan Cancer Society with this year’s Pinktober Campaign”

Mr Poort said breast cancer was the second highest killer of women in Samoa today.

He added in the 12 months, more than 60 per cent of new cases presented to the Samoa Cancer Society were breast cancer cases.

ANZ hosted a wellness talk by the Minister of Health, Dr Leao Talalelei Tuitama and Samoa Cancer Society president Lauaki Jason Annandale at the main Apia branch.

The event was attended by staff, customers, members and friends of the Society.
