FIJI Trades Union Congress (FTUC) general secretary Felix Anthony will take his plea next month.

Mr Anthony had appeared before Magistrate Court Waleen George at the Suva Magistrates Court earlier this morning charged with malicious acts under the Public Order Act.

It is alleged that he, on April 26, 2019 in Suva, knowingly spread abroad by word of mouth, to Fiji Times journalist Felix Chaudhary, false news relating to the expiry of Water Authority of Fiji’s workers’ contracts, false news which tended to create or foster public anxiety.

He was also served with disclosures by the State in court today.

The matter has been adjourned to September 2 for plea.

Magistrate George had extended Anthony’s bail.
