Angels on a mission

FIJI women’s 7s team will be following the footsteps of the Vodafone Fiji 7s team Olympic Games gold medal winning team when they compete in the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in the Bahamas.

Team coach Toloi Ralebakula said they were looking forward to the competition.

“The sport was included in the Commonwealth Youth Games at the last minute, but we are fortunate to be taking part in the Games,” he said.

“It will be a good exposure for the team.

“We held a couple of trials for the players and then we selected the team.

“We had trials in the northern, western and central divisions.”

The side departed for Bahamas yesterday.

“It is an opportunity where the girls can showcase their talent,” he added.

“We are hoping for a good result though it was a last-minute preparation.”

He said he was sure the girls would be able to step up their performance.
