EXAMINATION centres around the country have reported almost 100 per cent attendance for Year 8 students.
This was confirmed in a statement today by Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar.
Ms Akbar says 712 examination centres are opened today to accommodate 17,365 students in Year 8 who are writing exams in nine subjects.
“Today has seen the beginning of the examination period for students across Fiji,” Ms Akbar said.
“120,497 students are scheduled to write exams in 1936 centres generating 322,624 papers to be marked, excluding Year 7, 9 and 11 which are marked at the school,” she said.
“Exams are always a stressful period for both students and their parents. I call on parents to support your children to do their revision and to prepare systematically.
“Students should arrive at school on time fully prepared to demonstrate what they have learned in school.
“I would like to thank our teachers for the work they have done with our students to prepare them for these important exams.
“This is a major operation and I also want to acknowledge over 3500 other people who are working hard behind the scenes to ensure a seamless process as exam supervisors and markers.”
