Airline staff get payout

Update: 7:54PM SOME staff of Fiji Airways and Fiji Link will receive almost $10,000 and others more than $4000 profit share following the release of before-tax profit earned by the parent company, Air Pacific Ltd, in 2017.

A statement from the national carrier said the F$95.8million, an increase of $103.7m earned from 2016, was the highest ever for the group which also owns Pacific Call Comm. Ltd and a 38.75 per cent stake in Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa.

“Eligible non-management staff of Fiji Airways and Fiji Link will each receive a profit-share payout of F$4400,” the Fiji Airways statement said.

“Eligible Fiji Airways and Fiji Link managers will each receive a management bonus of no less than $9900.”

The profit share payout is in addition to quarterly bonuses of up to $1200 a year given to non-management staff of Fiji Airways and Fiji Link.

Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Andre Viljoen labelled the results as a “massive achievement by the entire team of the Fiji Airways Group”.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the way the team surpassed all key metrics for revenue, passenger and network growth, efficiently navigating through a challenging operating period in which cost control was crucial. 2017 saw the achievement of numerous milestones for the group,” Mr Viljoen said.
