AUSTRALIAN Football League (AFL) Fiji Junior Tribe coach Loata Vakausausa continued to make strides with her team guiding them to another victory against the touring Wanderers Australia Junior Boys team at Albert Park, Suva.

Fiji won the match 7-11-53 to 4-5-29.

“We have a good group of players and although there were some mistakes, they played well,” Vakausausa, 24, said.

She is from Tubou, Lakeba in Lau and is Fiji’s first accredited female AFL coach and has been coaching for the past three years.

“I’ve always love the sport and hope to see its grow successfully in the near future.”

Vakausausa said the sport had been gathering momentum since its establishment in Fiji.

“There are plans to increase its development in the West and outer areas, and if possible, we might look into taking it to outer islands.”

The Fiji Junior Tribe team has one more match against Australia today, the last in the Wanderers’ four match tour of Fiji.

They have been visiting every year.

“It is a great opportunity to test ourselves against the owners of the sport and we will look to seal it off in our last match tomorrow (today).”

Fiji Junior Tribe will play Wanderers Australia tomorrow at Albert Park in Suva at 10am.
