Advisory: Road closures to facilitate rehearsal of escorting duties

ROAD closures will be implemented tomorrow to facilitate a dry run/rehearsal of escorting duties that will be conducted for the New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Arden’s visit on Thursday.

Members of the public in the Western Division intending to travel along the Queens Road from Nadi Airport towards the Lautoka Jame Masjid are advised of the following traffic measures that will be implemented tomorrow morning.

According to a Police statement, for the dry run on Tuesday morning, the following traffic measures will be implemented;

“Temporary closure of from Nadi Airport to the Lautoka Jame Masjid from 7:00am to 9:00am.

“At 10:30am to 11:00am the road will be temporarily closed again as the motorcade leaves Lautoka for Namaka for her next official engagement.

“At 12pm the road from the Namaka Market to the Nadi Airport will be closed temporarily as the Prime Minister will round off her official tour of Fiji and will depart our shores shortly afterwards.

‘The same timings for the dry run/rehearsal tomorrow morning will be implemented on Thursday,” the statement said.

Members of the public are also advised that the following roads near the Lautoka Jame Masjid will be closed from Wednesday 12 midnight to Thursday 12 midday;

  1. Mana St
  2. Valentina St
  3. Yawini St.

“Officers are thankful for the support of members of the community living in these areas.

“We again request for patience and cooperation during these times.”
