THE global health issue of non-communicable diseases need to be addressed at the grassroot level, says Dr Iferemi Waqainabete.
The prominent local doctor was sworn in as the Minister for Health and Medical Services at the Government House in Suva this morning.
“I’ve been in the medical sector for more than 20 years and I hope to use this experience in uplifting the health sector in our country,” Dr Waqainabete said.
“We need to work together as a community to combat NCDs. It starts with lifestyle and this is an issue I will try to raise awareness on,” he said.
He also thanked Government for giving him a portfolio that he was familiar with.
