Asia Pacific delegates attend annual ADB meeting

DELEGATES from across Asia and the Pacific are in Nadi for the 52nd Asian Development Bank (ADB) as the annual meeting begins today.

During a press briefing on Denarau this morning, ADB director general for the Pacific Department Carmela Locsin said this was a historic moment for Fiji and the Pacific.

“I want to extend our welcome to ADB’s newest member Niue, who are attending their first annual meeting,” Ms Locsin said.

“As some of you may know, this meeting comes at a super remarkable time for the Pacific islands and the work that ADB is doing in the region.

“It comes at a time when ADB is scaling up its financial and technical support for the region as we strive to continue to improve the lives of close to 13 million people in the region.”
