EID is a significant event which symbolises unity, mutual co-existence and patriotism, says National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad.

In his Eid message yesterday, Prof Prasad sincerely wished the Muslim community in Fiji a blessed and joyous Eid-ul-Fitr and said this was a time of joy and reflection.

“It is the end of month-long fasting throughout the holy month of Ramadan, the observance of which is considered one of the pillars of Islam,” he said.

“In our multi-ethnic, multicultural and multireligious country, Eid is a significant event.

It is culmination of practice of self-discipline, increased prayers and charity towards all, especially our underprivileged and less fortunate.

“The NFP sincerely wishes our Muslim community a blessed and joyous Eid-ul-Fitr and may it bring harmony, compassion, good health and prosperity.”
