ATTORNEY-GENERAL and FijiFirst party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the Prime Minister and him are not paid according to the portfolios they hold in Government nor are they receiving more than a million dollars salary.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said people could check the amount of money that they and other cabinet ministers received as their salaries with the Fijian Elections Office (FEO).

He highlighted this during the party’s campaign meeting with members of the public outside ANZ Stadium in Suva on Monday afternoon.

“A lot of people fall for this that the PM has been paid over a million in salaries, on every single portfolio he holds he gets a salary for each portfolio,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said. He also refuted claims that he received $170,000 as salary from each of the portfolio he held in Government.

“In fact in the past four years, we are the only guys that believe apart from other parties, we’ve officially declared our income it gets published in the newspapers. “You can go to FEO and see how much we have, what our salary is,” he added.
