All 55 proposed candidates of FijiFirst have been announced. The list includes current party members as well as a bevy of new members, including former Opposition party members.

While announcing the list of candidates, party general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said they were ready to contest the elections under the guidance of party leader, Voreqe Bainimarama. He also clarified that one of the FijiFirst members had not applied to contest, which was Dr Salik Ram Govind.

“The member that’s no longer part of the proposed list of candidates is Rohit Sharma,” he said.

“As you know, we have always maintained the position that we are the only political party that has a clear set of policies, if you look at most of the other political parties, including People’s Alliance party and NFP, they have not clearly enunciated any specific policies.

“We have always had policies in place. We of course will be campaigning. In fact, we already had our 20 proposed candidates who have already been out in the field, they’ve been holding various pocket meetings and that’s what we intend to do, which is to reach out to the community.”
