Fiji and the Small Island States across the Pacific are banking on the European Union for a viable COVID-19 vaccine, says Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Speaking to the media today, he said this was among issues discussed between Fiji and the EU during its 5th high-level political dialogue a few days ago.

“With the support of Small Island States, we are calling that once a viable vaccine was available, it was treated as a global social good,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

EU Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific Sujiro Seam said the pandemic situation in Europe had not improved.
