More people in Fiji have access to mobile phones than television and radios, reveals the Fiji Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 2021 which was designed by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

A total of 6000 households in Fiji were surveyed in March and April this year to collect information on the situation of children and women in Fiji.

The survey found 95.4 per cent households in Fiji had either a mobile phone or a landline phone.

It said 71.1 per cent had access to a television while 67.3 per cent households had a radio.

This data was collected to ascertain access to media and internet by Fijian families.

The survey found more women read a newspaper, listened to the radio and watched television when compared with men.

It found 76.3 per cent households with internet while 30.3 per cent had a computer.

The MIC survey found 83.6 per cent men owned a mobile phone compared with 79.4 per cent women.

The data collected showed more women used the internet when compared with men and 80.4 per cent women used the internet in the last three months compared with 72.4 per cent men.
