87 sexual offences recorded in May

A 26-YEAR-OLD woman admitted to making a false statement that she was allegedly raped by a 39-year-old man after he failed to pay her $25.
This was revealed in the sexual offences statistics for last month released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions yesterday.
According to the ODPP, there was another incident where a 17-year-old girl also admitted to making a false statement that she was allegedly raped by a prison officer while she was a remanded prisoner.
The two cases were among the seven cases discontinued last month after the prosecution filed nolle prosequi because of insufficient evidence, incomplete investigations, false complaints, and the accused person being unfit to plead.
Meanwhile, 87 separate incidents of sexual offences were recorded by the ODPP last month, 50 of which were rape cases, 21 were sexual assault cases, five defilement cases, four cases each of abduction with intent to have carnal knowledge and indecent assault, two cases of attempted rape and one case of assault with intent to commit rape.
A total of 42 people were charged for these offences, three of whom were juveniles.
The statistics highlighted that a 14-year-old boy was charged for the alleged rape of a five-year-old boy.
A 15-year-old boy was also charged for the alleged rape and sexual assault of a six-year-old girl who was a visitor at the juvenile’s village, while a 16-year-old boy was charged with the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl who was his neighbour.
In one incident, a 62-year-old man was charged with the alleged rape and sexual assault of his 15-year-old daughter while in another incident a 52-year-old man was charged with representative counts of rape and indecent assault of his 11 and 20-year-old daughters.
There was another incident where a 19-year-old man was charged with the alleged rape of his 11-year-old sister, while in two other separate incidents, a 78-year-old man was charged with the rape and sexual assault of his 25-year-old granddaughter and another 37-year-old man was charged with the alleged rape of his 83-year-old mother-in-law.
There were two separate incidents where a 40-year-old and a 34-year-old man were charged with the alleged rape of their nine and 12-year-old stepdaughters.
According to the ODPP, there were three separate incidents where the accused persons allegedly raped their cousins.
