THE Fiji Airways Fiji 7s coach Gareth Baber knows they have to produce their best if they want to retain their title at the HSBC Hong Kong 7s this weekend.

After their second training run this week, Baber said the boys were working hard and knew they had to perform from tomorrow.

“We are in pretty good shape,” he said after the training run at the So Kon Po Recreation Ground yesterday afternoon.

“The boys are working hard and they know what they have to produce this weekend and how tough it’s gonna be.

“There has been talk that we did not have the quality of the sides that have played here previously.

“We know we’re going to play the best to win the HK tournament.”

Experienced campaigners Isake Katonibau and Semi Kunatani were hard at work during training yesterday with Katonibau leading by example throughout the session.

All players had a run during their scrimmage session with Spain yesterday and Baber was confident they had a good start in their preparations from last week.

“We’ve had some good grounds to train on here in Hong Kong from last week, all grass and it will surely help this weekend when we’re playing on grass turf,” he said.

“We had a good time training at the Hong Kong Sports institute courtesy of the HKRFU.

“We’re trying to keep the boys focused as we’re away from all the distraction around Hong Kong central and its surrounding,” he said.
