The inaugural winner of the Fiji Bitter Namalata 7s will be crowned in the next few hours at the Namalata Central School grounds on Kadavu.
It brings to an end the three-day tournament which has brought the people of Kadavu together since Wednesday.
Tournament director Malakai Yamaivava said competitions had been at its highest level since top teams from Suva provided strong competitions in the event.
“The intensity of games is very high because some of the country’s top teams are playing,” Yamaivava said.
“We had the eliminations yesterday and the race to the $5000 prizemoney is intensifying at every round of games.
“We expect to end the tournament at 4pm because of boat departure to ferry teams back to Viti Levu. It has been two days of best 7s rugby actions witnessed by the people of Kadavu who came in boatloads because it has been a long time since they have a big tournament of this scale.”
