A TOTAL of 637,527 voters are eligible to vote in the 2018 General Election.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem, while making the announcement yesterday, said the Central Division recorded the highest number of registered voters with 265,184 followed by the Western Division with 244,245, the Northern Division with 94,094 and the Eastern Division with 26,034 and a total of 7970 overseas registered voters.

Mr Saneem said out of the 637,527 voters, there were 316,431 females and 321,096 males. He said the FEO had already printed the provisional voter list by polling station for individual pre-poll stations and had dispatched them to the divisional managers.

Mr Saneem added the total number of voters assigned for pre-poll was 70,519 and the total number of voters eligible for voting on election day stood at 559,038 which was subjected to change.

“The FEO intends to display the Election Day Voter lists through its 1500 platform, meaning voters who are registered to vote on election day are now able to SMS their voter card number to 1500 and find out their polling venue and station details.”

He said the FEO would be printing 764,900 ballot papers bound into 15,298 books.

“The total number of election day venues is 854 and there will be 582 pre-poll venues.”
