$620k boost for COVID-19 testing

The Korean Government today donated $620,000 worth of COVID-19 PCR test kits to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.

During the handover, Health Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said the 480 test kits would enhance the ministry’s testing capability especially at the border and also at the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) lab in Tamavua.

Dr Waqainabete said more than 10,000 people in Fiji have been screened and this was more than one per cent of Fiji’s population.

He said the Fijian Government would continue to work hard to ensure the protection of all Fijian during this pandemic period.

The minister also acknowledged the Korean Embassy and also the   Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for their willingness to work closely with the Government.
