$60 million aviation academy commissioned in Nadi

Fijians dreaming of becoming pilots can now train locally at the new $60million Fiji Airways Aviation Academy in Namaka, Nadi.

The world class facility which has already trained local and regional pilots was officially commissioned by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama yesterday.

He said what the academy has already done within the short time it has been in operation signified what it could do for local and regional pilots.

“It is not only Fijians that have benefitted from this academy,” he said.

“When the airline of New Caledonia needed to keep their pilots certified they came to Fiji and they came to this academy.

“Moving forward this academy is open to any pilot in the region and internationally who seek its services.”

According to the airline, the key features of the academy are the two state of the art Level D certified full flight simulators which include an Airbus A330 simulator and a 737 MAX simulator.

The airline revealed that the 737 MAX simulator housed at the Fiji Airways Aviation Academy is one of a few simulators in the Southern Hemisphere.
