550,000 Fijians expected to cast their votes today

SUPERVISOR of Elections Mohammed Saneem has urged every Fijian to come in large numbers to cast their votes today because the opportunity comes after every four years.

A total of 550,000 voters are expected to cast their votes in 854 polling venues around the country including 11,000 officials of FEO.

He reminded voters it would take about ten minutes for them cast their votes in polling stations.

“Make sure to exercise your constitutional rights to mark your battle paper. As you all know that you can only vote at the polling station where you are assigned.

“This means if any individual turns up at the wrong polling station, you will not be accommodated, to avoid disappointment use the 1500 platform to verify your location,” Mr Saneem said.

Polling begins at 7.30am.

Important Details for Voters to Note:

-Know your polling venue

-Text your voter number to 1500 to check your polling venue

-Take Your Voter Card with You When you go to Vote (If you have lost your vote card and know where to vote , you can go there and present any other ID or request the presiding officer to still allow you to vote by verifying your details

-Have a look at the voter instruction booklet to find the number of the candidate that maybe of your choice or read the elections information booklet to learn more of how to vote

-Remember you can only mark one candidate number on the ballot paper
