The Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Services (TSLS) has received 5117 new applications for the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme as of Wednesday.
TSLS said 3298 of these applications were completed for processing while 1819 were awaiting final offer letters from preferred Higher Education Institutions or other mandatory requirements such as combined parental income, TIN, birth certificate and high school results.
“Out of 3298 complete applications, 1656 students have received their offer for sponsorship and funding,” TSLS said in response to queries from The Fiji Times yesterday.
“TSLS continues to reach out to students via email and phone to provide assistance in updating their incomplete applications.”
Meanwhile, TSLS said Cabinet had announced the schemes for the National Toppers scholarship and Tertiary Education Loan Scheme would continue as approved in the current financial year.
“By Act, TSLS is mandated to administer and implement government policies on scholarships and study loans. “TSLS will be guided by the Government on future policies.
“Applications are still open, and students are currently registering and applying. “Different HEIs have different semester starting dates, and TSLS is trying to facilitate students’ choice at their preferred institution.
“TSLS application is still open, and students are encouraged to apply.”
