FIJI Swimming has a preparation budget of $500,000 for the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa next year.

The Pan Pacific Junior Championship in Suva next week serves as the buildup for the regional event.

Fiji Swimming has prepared strategic plans which include training programs and logistics in a bid to get the best results.

Fiji Swimming president Ben Rova said they had set up a program for the 2019 Pacific Games which was submitted to the Fiji National Sports Commission. “The New Zealand Short Course Championship will be held in October,” Rova said.

“It is an open over 18 years event so we are looking to send about five local-based swimmers. It will be the qualifying for the FINA short course world event in China in December.”

Rova said they would be sending a shadow national team to Australia.

“We are grateful to the Fiji National Sports Commission, FASANOC, FIBA and our other sponsors for their support as we head into the 2019 Pacific Games and the 2020 Olympics.”
