50,000-plus calls received on child helpline

MORE than 50,000 phone calls have been made to the 1325 Child Helpline seeking assistance from the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation.
Child Helpline manager Arteshni Jaykisun said majority of the calls involved reports of child neglect and child abuse.
She made the comments while speaking at the National Prevention of Child Abuse and Child Neglect Day (PCAN) in Suva last Friday.
