Australia took its vaccine delivery total to 250,000 with the handover yesterday of another 50,000 doses of Australian manufactured AstraZeneca vaccines.

Australian High Commissioner to Fiji John Feakes said they were well on track in supporting Fiji.

“I am very happy to be here today (yesterday) to mark the arrival of our 250,000 vaccines, a 25 per cent down payment on a million that we will be providing,” said Mr Feakes.

Health and Medical Services Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said the vaccination program was rolling out rapidly in the containment areas, as well as areas close to it.

Meanwhile, a multi-disciplinary Australian Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT) was expected to arrive last night.
