To show its support for cancer awareness in Fiji and to mark its Pinktober celebrations, Digicel Fiji yesterday handed over $5000 to the Fiji Cancer Society.

A statement from the company said to mark the annual Pinktober campaign, Digicel Fiji in collaboration with the FCS conducted a cancer awareness session with all their staff members.

“As Digicel celebrates its 13th birthday this month, we are delighted to contribute to a relevant cause like Breast Cancer Awareness and hope that more education, awareness and health equity is created for breast cancer,” Digicel Fiji chief executive officer Farid Mohammed said.

In his appreciation for the kind gesture, FCS board chair Makarava Wilson thanked the company and said they were appreciative of the continued support of the Digicel family.

The statement said the event included an experience sharing session from a cancer survivor and awareness of early signs and symptoms for breast cancer while two clinicians were on hand to answer any questions that the staff members had for them.
