400 cartons for flood victims

OVER 400 cartons of basic supplies were given to those affected by the floods in the Western Division by the Vodafone ATH Foundation on Friday.

The gifts are part of the foundation’s RED ALERT program that gathered Vodafone employees and volunteers from the foundation’s partnered groups at their head office in Tamavua on Thursday to assist in the packing of the relief supplies.

Regional chief executive officer Pradeep Lal expressed his sympathy to those affected by the recent floods.

“This is a sad time for our country as people are gathering the little they have left in the aftermath of the recent flooding in the Western Division,” Mr Lal said.

“We have seen hundreds of people losing their homes with damage to public infrastructure.”

Mr Lal is calling on the public to lend out a helping hand and assist those who were affected by the floods.

“Let us act together to assist the affected and spare the little extra to put back smiles on the affected children and families,” he said. “We may not be able to assist everyone, but hope our contribution will bring back a little smile to at least some of the affected families.”

The teams left early Friday morning visiting residents of affected areas with trucks of relief supplies.
