NAITASIRI Secondary School under-19 team is preparing to upset Queen Victoria School when they meet in the Vodafone Cup Fiji secondary schools rugby league quarter-finals this weekend.

NSS coach Joseva Jale said despite their loss to QVS last year they had improved their training strategies to another level.

“They were unstoppable and since it was our first year in the competition last year, we were a bit shaky but we managed to pull through,” Jale said.

“This year is going to be different. Both teams are prepared and we know QVS will come out strongly and hard on us on Saturday.

“Last year we didn’t get much support, so we are calling on the people of Naitasiri to support our gladiators because they are the future of Naitasiri rugby league.

“We want them to take part because majority of the players in the Naitasiri team are not from Naitasiri, so there is a huge gap for our students who want to join the Highlanders team.

“We want to bridge the gap and allow our own children to one day play for their province.”

They will meet at the QVS ground.
