MINISTRY of Forestry Maritime Coordinator George Vuki , who is one of the stakeholders present at the workshop has challenged the Lau Province to plant 35,000 seedlings/plants in its villages in the next four years.

Mr Vuki’s challenge came at the Lau Yaubula Workshop which is underway in Suva.

During discussions Mr Vuki was advised the Lau Provincial Council had already requested for 10,000 seedlings to be planted.

Roko Tui Lau Ratu Maikeli Waqatabu said the province of Lau has welcomed the initiative.

“We as government officials are mandated and so are the people on the ground. Even before this initiative came in, many have been asking through their Tikina council if they could be provided with seedlings through the Ministry of Forests so we are glad we are going to get our part of it”.
