More than 300 full-time staff of Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa were handed food packs and treated to lunch at their Denarau Island property today.

The initiative was made possible through generous donations made by Hilton villa owners.

Hilton area general manager Fiji David Wells said the owners wanted to ensure the team who had looked after them so well during their holidays over the years, were now themselves being supported during this very difficult economic downturn.

“The rest of the food packs were purchased with funds sourced from guests who chose to donate into a team welfare fund following recent natural disasters,” Mr Wells said.

“With so many workers in the hotel and tourism sector affected, the generous contribution from our villa owners and past guests has come at an optimum time for our team members.”

The staff members who are on leave without pay turned up in numbers on Denarau today to collect their food hamper packs.
