3 more for U23 squad

THREE more players have been included in the Fiji Football U23 Olympic squad and are expected to march into camp on February 15.

Former Fiji U20 representative Shaneel Naidu, Praneel Naidu and Kolinio Sivoki have received the call-up to join the squad as the best players are sought for Rio.

Fiji FA vice president and national team director Tarunesh Reddy, in a statement said, the tour to Spain exposed a lot of weaknesses which they would address.

“We have seen some weaknesses in some areas during our tour to Spain so we are looking at improving on it.

“The inclusion of these players sees lots of competition amongst them for the final spot,” Reddy said.

He said the team’s tour to Brazil had been confirmed as they sought to find the best combinations moving forward.

‘We want to give our team more exposure and experience so we have decided to send the team for a tour to Brazil in April. We are still in talks with some of the clubs in Brazil which will be finalised soon,” he said.

The team will leave for Brazil on April 24 after the Oceania Football Confederations Champions for three weeks.
