THIS year will mark 27th year of the QVSOB Druavesi Golf Tournament.
The tournament is named after Master Netani Druavesi, the longest serving schoolteacher at QVS from the 1940s to the late 70s.
Tournament director Cama Raimuria said QVS had been keeping up with the pace.
“Tu Drua’s disciplined mind and his focused approach towards the creation of a new Vulinitu graduands have reaped its reward,” Raimuria said.
“What had started off as the school’s inter-house sports competition has now given birth to this ever widening thirst among QVSOBs for healthy competitiveness in almost all facets of our lives,” he said.
“We expect over 100 persons (old boys, families, friends and other chool Alumnae) to be part of tomorrow’s program.
“Each House (Bau, Rewa, Verata and Tovata) will have at least two teams having four players per team.
“All non-players are encouraged to walk to at least nine holes.”
Tomorrow’s competition and wellness programe oversees participants to walk over seven miles.
Each individual will be doing 14,000 steps to complete the whole course.
“We have also extended invitation to other schools Alumnae – ACSOG, BMSOG, RKSOB, SGS old scholars.
“Bau House will be captained by RFMF Commander – Commodore Viliame Naupoto, Rewa by Speaker of Parliament Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Verata by former RBF Governor Savenaca Narube and Tovata by busines executive Rokoseru Nabalarua.
“The Bau House will miss the services of the Leader of Opposition Sitiveni Rabuka who had flew out of the country on Wednesday,” Raimuria said.
The 27th QVSOB Druavesi Golf Tournament will be held at the Fiji Golf course greens in Vatuwaqa today.
Registration starts at 10am and tee-off at 11.30pm.
Proceeds from the tournament is used by QVSOB Association for charity work project.
