The 27th Australia Fiji Business Forum was officially opened in Sydney on Wednesday. Held at the InterContinental Sydney Hotel, the event was attended by elite corporates from both Fiji and Australia and honoured guests from the Fiji Government.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, MSMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka and Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh attended the opening cocktail and dinner evening and are expected to take the stage as speakers.
A show of the Vuvale spirit, the forum stands as a symbol of the long-standing bond shared by the two nations and deeply rooted in trade, support, and a desire to uplift the Pacific.
Speaking at the opening dinner, chief executive officer of the Australia India Institute and former senator for Tasmania Lisa Singh said “Fiji and Australia aspire to a new era of co-operation between our two nations.”
“As we navigate the complexities of our shared world, the actions of Fiji’s allies like Australia and India serve as beacons of co-operation.
“Their actions remind us that our fates intertwined and that addressing climate vulnerabilities requires a unified response,” she added, addressing the shared climate vulnerabilities of the region.
“I do hope the next couple of days will provide you with an enriched experience on how our two countries can work together to address some of those shared challenges that we face,” Ms Singh said.
The forum will end today with closing remarks by Fiji Australia Business Council president Vera Chute.
