A TOTAL of 26 teams and 460 athletes and officials have been confirmed to fly the flag for Fiji at the 2019 Pacific Games as the numbers begin to finalise.

“There are 26 teams that will be going,” confirmed team Fiji chef de mission Patrick Bower.

“And we are grateful that we have gotten them all confirmed across the line and accredited,” he said.

“It was a critical process in making sure that we have all our athletes and officials registered so technically they will be accepted when we get to Samoa.”

Bower said it was an important process to ensure no athlete or official was left out.

Bower also highlighted that Samoa officials were excited that Fiji had confirmed its team to the Games and all logistical requirements were being attended to.

“We had a good talk with Samoa last week Wednesday to find out about accommodation and with the numbers we will be taking how we will be met at the airport and on how we will be moved to our different venues.”

FASANOC chief executive officer Lorraine Mar has confirmed all teams have cleared their levies and are ready to go.

Team Fiji will be housed at the games village at the Faleula Methodist compound with the first wave of athletes to travel to Samoa on July 5th.
