A 22-year-old man from Lautoka is believed to be the country’s latest drowning victim.
This was confirmed in a statement sent by police released today.
Police have revealed that the man was swimming with some friends in the Naviago Waters in Lautoka on Monday when the incident had occurred.
“His body was later found in the afternoon,” Police said.
“Police are pleading with members of the community to be vigilant at all times to avoid such incidence.”
The drowning death toll currently stands at 35 compared to 41 for the same period last year.
