FIJI Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber says he will continue to expose new players in all HSBC World 7s tournaments.

Tabadamu playmaker Teri Tamani and Police forward Keponi Paul featured for the side at the Singapore 7s and has recalled Apenisa Cakaubalavu for the London and Paris 7s.

Baber said there was a need to expose new talents because they would cover for the senior players in the near future.

He said some of his experience players were likely to secure overseas contracts after the world cup and these new talents would provide the cover.

The former Wales 7s rep said his mission was to maintain the team’s consistency in despite the movement of players.

“My job here is to see the team right up to the Olympics,” he said.

“I want to see some of these new boys to have the experience before we lose some senior players to overseas contracts.”

Some of the new players eyed by Baber to cover for the experience boys are Keponi Paul, Tamani, Cakaubalavu, Vasikali Mudu, Batinivau Uluiyata and Sakeo Railoa.

Cakaubalavu is expected to face stiff competition from seasoned campaigners at next weekend’s London 7s.
