IHG Hotels & Resorts in Fiji handed $20,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

The assistance was part of fundraising activities and sales efforts throughout October at the three IHG Fiji properties.

Guests and employees pitched in and gave whatever they could in collection cans at various locations within the properties. IHG matched every dollar and doubled the amount collected to show its passion for making a difference in the lives of people and communities.

Area General South Pacific Lachlan Walker said “IHG is proud to play a part in making a positive impact in the area of health and well-being. Our commitment to active involvement in the local communities around our hotels means being a valued, responsible community partner by ensuring that our business objectives enhance the quality of life in the community.”

Fiji Cancer Society chief executive officer Belinda Chan was grateful to IHG for supporting the pinktober initiative.

“As an NGO, contributions as such help our support services and assistance, from transportation, medication to groceries for patients, dressing materials, facilitating weekly home visitations in partnerships with Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the survivorship programme focusing on post recovery,” she added.

Funds handed to the Cancer Society strengthen and support their efforts to create a cancer-free Fiji and drive education, awareness, and patient support.
