Fiji Airways Fiji 7s coach Ben Gollings says getting a good start at the Hong Kong 7s will be the focus for the team this weekend.

The side faces faces Samoa in its first game tomorrow at 7.28pm.

On Saturday, the boys will take on Canada at 3.52pm before the all-important clash against Argentina at 8.37pm.

Gollings said while the team had settled in well under “cool weather” in So Kon Po, the players “know exactly where we want to be coming this weekend”.

“Having three big teams is exciting for us and it helps keep the focus because it’s basically a cup final after a cup final here now in the way this tournament plays out,” he said.

“So it’s exciting and none more so in the very first game against Samoa.

“Everybody’s fighting. Everybody wants an opportunity, everybody wants to hit the quarter-finals, everyone wants to hit the finals because of the points and the Olympic qualification.

“So yeah, we know Samoa are going to come out and it’s really key for us that we set a good platform and we get the tournament off to a good start. We know we’ve got the capabilities.”
